Created for the "Floral Reverie" exhibition by Flannel Collective.

An exploration of scent and hyper-saturation; incorporating photography extracts from an actual bouquet of flowers hand designed and gifted for my parents anniversary.

"Over the centuries, artists have captured the rich symbolism of flowers, tracing the changing meanings of roses, irises, tulips, carnations, and more. Depending on the context, a single flower can represent reproduction or decay, purity or promiscuity, love or hardship—or nothing more than a pile of petals" - Artsy

My work has always explored alternative visual language, whether it be through documenting sound, taste or emotional experience in gestural form. With this piece, I took on a more figurative role than normal, encapsulating multiple visual extractions within the petals of an abstract blooming orchid. This piece symbolises the ontological aspects of my practice interweaving together - a comment on the mycelium networks built below ground that connect everything together.
